Dr Paul Thornton-Bott is an experienced and respected Orthopaedic Surgeon who specializes in Hip and Knee Joint Replacement surgery, Hip Resurfacing, Joint Revision surgery, and Trauma surgery. He is a strong believer in utilizing conservative management whilst still embracing new technologies including pain relief techniques that will allow patients to delay surgery until necessary. He is acutely aware that pain from severe osteoarthritis is very challenging to live with at any age and works together with your GP and physiotherapist to establish the best outcome for you.
He believes in achieving the best possible health outcomes for you with excellent personalized patient care. As a firm believer in continued education to optimize patient outcomes, he offers the latest and best proven techniques as well as advances in prosthetic Implants. He can offer minimally invasive surgery, computer navigation, robotic surgery, 3D planning and much more, allowing you to enjoy a return to quality of life with early mobilization, targeted pain control and rapid recovery options.
Dr Thornton-Bott has a busy Private Practice and consults from rooms: In Sydney, at East Sydney Private and Chatswood. On the South Coast he consults in Milton and Nowra. Seeing patients from Canberra to Batemans Bay to Bowral. He mentors and teaches surgeons in the Direct Anterior Approach to Hip Replacement, is the Head of Education for Registrars at SDMH and teaches Medical Students from the Universities of Wollongong and Notre Dame.
Dr Thornton-Bott holds Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and Fellowship of The Royal College of Surgeons (UK). He was chosen for postgraduate studies in Orthopaedic Surgery to train on the prestigious Oxford Training Scheme, including the world leading Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre and John Radcliffe (Trauma) Hospital. Following his qualification, he was appointed to 2 Fellowships at the Mater Hospital Sydney, another orthopaedic centre of excellence. He has over 18 years of experience in Primary and Revision Joint Replacement surgery with excellent results. Prior to being invited to return to Australia, he was appointed to become a Hip and Knee Specialist in Cambridgeshire, UK, being responsible for Complex Revision cases.
